Kiwanis Club of Polk City Membership Meeting

If you have been giving any thought to joining a community service organization lately, we have a fantastic opportunity for you tomorrow night, Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 6:30 PM at West Elementary School (on Broadway in Polk City). We will be focusing on membership at this dinner meeting. We will also be recognizing at least 4 seniors and their parents for their accomplishments over their years at North Polk High School.
Our Kiwanis Club of Polk City is dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Our service projects are designed to do just that, focus on service to children and families. Our fundraisers help us raise funds to disperse to other projects, activities or organizations that also focus on serving children and their families. We need active members of the community who want to serve and lead within our community to help fulfill our mission of service. Please consider learning more about our organization, and possibly then, joining our club.
We hope you will join us tomorrow evening at 6:30 PM in the West Elementary cafeteria for dinner and conversation, and hopefully, become a member of the Kiwanis Club of Polk City. One other thing; our dinners are awesome!

Kiwanis Club of Polk City Pancake Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt

The Kiwanis Club of Polk City's annual Palm Sunday Pancake Breakfast was held on March 24, 2013. It was a great success, serving more than 250 people. We had many Kiwanis and Key Club members volunteering to help out. The morning was a little cold and rainy, but even with that, many community members stopped by to enjoy our fantastic breakfast. Ashlee's Dance Studio provided young peoples' art work for display, and Michelle's Dance Studio provided some wonderful student dance entertainment. It seemed that everyone enjoyed themselves!
The following Saturday morning, March 30th, found our very own Easter Bunny visiting with many of the children who came out on a fairly rainy, rather cold morning to run across the West Elementary field finding all kinds of candy during our annual Easter Egg Hunt. Even though the weather was less than optimal, at about 9:50 AM (10 minutes before the hunt started), the rain stopped, and the children took off on their hunt. We had more than 100 children and their families hunting for the candy, and many went on over to the Polk City Library following the hunt to participate in a craft activity organized by the library staff. The Easter Bunny, of course, went to the library as well to greet more of the children and have pictures taken with bunny and child. The Easter Bunny then proceeded to the Polk City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to greet many of the residents and provide some candy for treats. All in all, the day was a blast! Again, thanks goes out to all the Kiwanis and Key Club members who volunteered to help with all the activities of the day. The Kiwanis Club couldn't do this if it weren't for the dedicated volunteers who make it all happen. Thanks goes out to the Polk City Library staff as well as the Polk City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their support and assistance.
